"NEETs" refers to youths aged 15 to 24 who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training. It refers to those who are unemployed or outside the labour force, due to reasons other than education or training.

The percentage of NEET youths in Singapore aged 15 to 24 has increased from 3.7% to 4.1% from 2013 to 2023. While Singapore's figures remain below the global average of 22.4%, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has cautioned that young people who are not in employment, education, or training face a heightened risk of becoming socially excluded . Such individuals may find themselves with low income and lack the skills needed to improve their economic prospects.

With emerging trends brought forth by digital advancement and the global pandemic, conversations and discussions on how to address the challenges faced by NEETs have become increasingly relevant. It is critical for social service agencies who play a part in the youth sector to take initiative in pulling together resources, professionals, and practitioners to kickstart this conversation in "Meeting the NEETs".

Fei Yue Community Services is honoured to organise the inaugural Youth Outreach Conference with the support of Youth Worker Association Singapore (YWAS). We are proud to bring together the myriad of international speakers, local social service practitioners, educators and policymakers through a platform that enables them to engage in comprehensive discussion on the emerging challenges faced by NEET youths and showcase the different programmes and services available to support this population.
